What exactly can GoodOldBikes do for you ?

Our purpose is to « search, identify, negotiate, import, prepare and restore vintage and collectible motorcycles »...

Easy does it : we’ll play by your rules, your needs and your budget

Search and Import

If you don’t see the bike of your dreams in our current inventory, just tell us what you’re looking for and we’ll help you. We’ll start searching and will keep you informed as we spot the right bike or the closet matches, according to your criteria (type, model year, mileage, overall shape, color scheme… and budget, of course).

From there on, we’ll take care of the whole process (or only parts of it, you decide) : negociation, purchase, payment, local and international preparation, handling and shipping, export and import procedures, and taxes (sigh !). We’ll need to agree upon a serious deposit, though.

The imported bike is then ready for delivery with all legal and necessary documents so it can be registered and put on the road in any EU member state with NO ADDITIONAL TAXES (EU rules are quite clear about this) :

·          Original, cleared US Title

·          Customs « 705 Luxembourg » Stamp

·          Formal Bill of Sale (Invoice), Luxembourg VAT included

·          Certificate of Conformity from the related manufacturer/importer in Benelux

We can also deliver the bike with all necessary « CE » components in case it needs to go through technical examination : headlight glass, speedometer, turn signals… We can even go so far as to go through registration procedures in Belgium, Luxembourg or France, so the bike will come with papers from an EU member state…

No general rule, here, as things will be quite different depending on the bike, year of make, national or even regional rules in your country of residence… But then, it’s in our interest to help you solve any administrative or technical problem that may arise, of course.

Preparation and restoration

We are willing to provide a wide choice of bikes so as to fit all budgets, from “restoration projects” to mint, show bikes.

Prices are often not set yet, and may depend on the amount of preparation/restoration/paper work potential buyers expect from us or would rather do themselves. Hey, that’s most of the fun of the classic bike experience, isn’t it ?

So you can elect to buy the bike “as is” and restore it yourself, or have us do the best professional restoration job, or anything in between. Of course, the final price will differ accordingly.

But, generally speaking, the bikes on display are “riders”, which means they have been thoroughly revised and are ready to go.

Some of the bikes on display are absolutely mint, having been professionally restored in the USA or in Bobby’s shed. Bobby is now busy with a couple of blue H2s, one red Sei and a few Honda fours that will be on sale with a warranty.

The Bikes

The bikes are classified under 5 different categories :

  • For Sale : readily available, in our inventory, for your pleasure… Some are already in a perfect shape an can hit the streets right away. Some are still in need of some preparation and tuning…

  • Restoration : these are undergoing a thorough restoration job by our talented Bobby or will soon be. We’ll make sure to post the latest pictures of his work as it’s taking shape. Yes they are also For Sale…

  • Soon : we have spotted and purchased these bikes but still need to bring them back. It’s only a matter of weeks. Next container is due around Jan-March 2006…

  • Sold : these ones are gone, and make our clients happy. We keep them on display as convincing examples of what we do and of present market trends.

  • Collection : these bikes are ours and make us very happy. We ride and pamper them. Again, they are on display so you can see what we can do for you, what kind of gems you can expect to get your hands on with a little patience and our methods. These are not for sale, but we may consider serious offers and in fact have already let some of these go as new opportunities occur or we get a little short on space or cash…

Prices

As a basic rule, the price we mention means a revised, running bike.

However, the mentioned price can be no more than a "basis for discussion" i.e. it may vary according to actual demand, the real, diagnosed shape of the bike, and, of course, how deep you are willing to have Bobby go with the restoration process.

So be ready for this pricing scheme :

  • AS IS price : « as is» : price for the bike as showed and described, whatever its actual shape, to be picked up as is, without any preparation work from us. You will do the job...

  • REVISED price : « revised » : price for a revised, good running bike, that is ready for registration. Then again, you can always go the extra step and make a real show bike out of it with a little of your time and love...

  • COLLECTOR price : « collector » : price for a "mint", "concours", real gem of a bike. Includes a 1 year warranty on parts and labor.

Example : 1972 Kawasaki 750 H2 - blue (we have a bunch of these on display) :

  • AS IS price : € 8.000,-
  • REVISED price : € 10.000,-
  • COLLECTOR price : € 12.000,-

General Terms and Conditions

All customs rights and taxes (Luxembourg VAT 15 %) are included. This is rather important since this prevents all EU member states from claiming any additional customs tax or VAT on our bikes. So you can tell them to go to hell.

The bikes are to be picked up in Luxembourg or at Bobby's place, close to Liège (Luik, Luttich), Belgium. We can also arrange for delivery to the address of your choice, at the most reasonable cost.

No order is confirmed before receipt of a sound deposit. Full payment is due before or at the moment of delivery/pick up.
